SENIOR SOCIAL EDITOR AND COORDINATOR | SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
The purpose of Weddings in Athens is to endorse Athens, Georgia as a town, concentrating on weddings and everything relating to weddings in the Athens area specifically. The group primarily uses their blog to showcase the outstanding selection of Athens, Georgia wedding vendors such as photographers, videographers, florists, wedding planners and venues. I served as a Social Media Intern for six months prior to getting promoted to Senior Social Editor and Coordinator in January of 2020.
SENIOR EDITOR PROJECTS
Following my promotion, I was tasked to recruit, train, and monitor a team of ten interns on creating and submitting content calendars and posting to the Weddings in Athens blog alongside the Blooging Coordinator. I manage and monitor all the social media accounts and press daily for correctness, comprehensibility, and AP Style.
This spring, I began the process of recruiting summer interns. I took the initiative to reorganize all the files in Google Drive. Additionally, I developed a new Excel spreadsheet that holds all past and present applicants as well as various contacts to send out the application to and vendors to potentially collaborate with in the future. I also created new promotional graphics to utilize to encourage people to apply. I interviewed approximately forty applicants, and selected five Social Media Interns and five Blogging Interns to represent Weddings in Athens throughout the summer. The Weddings in Athens blog continued to gain popularity throughout the summer, and the number of applications we received for fall was almost double what it was for summer.
INTERN PROJECTS
As an intern, my responsibilities included creating content to upload on a shared Google Drive by specific deadlines, posting weekly on Weddings in Athens social media platforms, and recruiting new followers and increasing engagement through the use of promotional graphics.
